Chris Copeland and Ex-Girlfriend Stabbed Outside NYC Club: 2 Hawks Players Arrested

Indiana Pacers small forward Chris Copeland and his ex-girlfriend Katrine Saltara were both stabbed outside a nightclub in New York City early Wednesday morning. Copeland was stabbed in the elbow and abdomen outside of the nightclub by 22-year-old Shezoy Bleary. Bleary stabbed both Copeland and his ex outside of the club after it was reported they were arguing.

Two Atlanta Hawks players were arrested at the NYC night club as well, as both Thabo Sefolosha and Pero Antic were arrested for not allowing New York City police to set up a crime scene at the club. Pacers president Larry Bird released the following statement on Chris Copeland and his current condition.

“We are aware that Chris Copeland was injured early this morning in New York City,” Larry Bird, said in a statement released by the team. “We are still gathering information and will update when we know more. Our thoughts are with Chris and those injured.”

A spokesperson for Atlanta Hawks, Garin Narain, released the following statement on the two Hawks players that were arrested.

“We are aware of the situation involving Pero Antic and Thabo Sefolosha this morning, “We are in the process of gathering more information and will have further comment at the appropriate time.”
