Clay Buccholz to Receive Second Opinion on Right Elbow

Clay Buccholz has been the ace of the struggling Boston Red Sox staff so far this season. He was placed on the disabled list last week due to strained flexor muscle in his right elbow, which is indeed his throwing elbow. While no ligament damage was found, Buccholz will visit Dr. James Andrews to receive a second opinion on the elbow.

Per Sean McAdam of CSNNE.com, Buccholz is hopeful that it isn’t anything to serious:

“Just for confirmation that everything is feeling basically how they said it was going to be after time off,” said Buchholz. “Hopefully, within the next couple of days, I can get a ball in my hand and start getting back into the shape I need to be able to start.”

Buccholz has win-loss record of 7-7 with a 3.26 earned run average with 107 strikeouts over 113.1 innings for the Red Sox this year.
