Devonta Freeman Takes Home NFC Offensive Player of the Week

Atlanta Falcons running back Devonta Freeman has been named the NFC’s Offensive Player of the Week for his stellar performance against the San Francisco 49ers on Sunday, per an official NFL announcement.

Freeman racked up 155 total yards, which included 139 rushing yards and three touchdowns. Freeman is projected to exceed the 1,000 yard rushing clip by 63 yards.

The 24-year-old running back from Florida State is the only player in the NFL over the last three years to have three touchdowns in a game on three different occasions, according to Curtis Jackson of Falcons.com.

This is the first time in his NFL career that Freeman has been named the offensive player of the year. He is now the 4th different Falcons player to win the award this season, joining Matt Ryan, Julio Jones, and Vic Beasley.
