Dodgers Move Ace Clayton Kershaw (Back) to 60-Day Disabled List

On Wedensday, the Los Angeles Dodgers transferred left-handed pitcher Clayton Kershaw from the 15-day disabled list to the 60-day disabled list.

Kershaw was placed on the 15-day disabled list on June 30th with a herniated disc in his back that may or may not require surgery. He will eligible to come off the disabled list on August 27th, but a potential return in 2016 remains unlikely for Kershaw.

The three-time National League Cy Young Award winner has still not begun any type of throwing.

“He has not thrown, he has not played catch, he has not picked up a baseball,” Dodgers manager Dave Roberts said before the Dodgers faced the Colorado Rockies on Wednesday.

Los Angeles has placed a full 25-man roster on the disabled list this season, setting a new National League record. The 2012 Boston Red Sox had 27 players hit the disabled list.
