Dolphins QB Matt Moore Named AFC Offensive Player of the Week

From backup quarterback, to starting quarterback, to AFC Offensive Player of the Week.

The NFL announced today that Miami Dolphins quarterback Matt Moore has been named the AFC’s Offensive Player of the Week after completing 12 passes for 236 yards and four touchdowns in the Dolphins’ 34-13 rout of the Jets on Saturday night.

Miami is now 9-5 and closer to a playoff berth after Moore’s four touchdown performance. He was filling in for the injured Ryan Tannehill against the Jets, just like he was for most of the 2nd half against the Arizona Cardinals when Tannehill initially went down.

Wide receiver Kenny Stills caught one of the touchdowns for 52 yards, while tight end Dion Sims caught two one-yard touchdowns. Star wide receiver Jarvis Landry caught a 66-yard pass for his 3rd touchdown of the year that helped him eclipse the 1,000 receiving yard mark.

The Dolphins will travel to Buffalo to play the Bills on Christmas Eve, and then head back to Miami for their New Year’s Day match-up with Tom Brady and the New England Patriots.
