The NBA announced earlier today that Miami Heat shooting guard Dwyane Wade and Los Angeles Clippers point guard Chris Paul were named players of the week by the league. Dwyane Wade representing the Eastern Conference, while Chris Paul was representing the Western Conference this week.
Wade lead the Heat to a 3-1 record with wins coming over the Cavaliers, Blazers, and Nuggets while dropping their final game of the week to Oklahoma City on Sunday. Wade averaged 24.5 points, 4.0 assists, 2.3 rebounds and 2.25 steals per game, shooting 53.2 percent from the field during this stretch. Wade’s 7.0 point average in the 4th quarter is the 2nd highest in the NBA this season, and him and backcourt teammate Goran Dragic are shooting a combined 49.3 percent, the highest for any starting backcourt in the NBA this season.
Paul lead the Clippers to a 4-0 record last week, with wins coming against the Hornets, Kings, Wizards, and Pelicans as they had a perfect record. Paul averaged 26.0 points, 11.3 assists, 4.8 rebounds and 2.0 steals last week which also included three double-doubles and two 30-point games. Paul has certainly benefited with the return of Blake Griffin, and has continued to put up similar numbers as too what he did when Griffin was unable to play due to injury.
