Atlanta Falcons star wide receiver Julio Jones says he will play on Monday Night Football versus the New Orleans Saints after sustaining a calf injury in Atlanta’s win over the Raiders last week.
“Yes, yes, I’ll play Monday night,” Jones said, per the Falcons’ website. “I wouldn’t chance it if I didn’t (feel like I was ready). If I felt like I was going to overcompensate or something else was going to get tore up or it was going to get worse or anything like that. I’m good, I’ve been getting great treatment, therapy and rest — it’s the key.”
Jones missed the first two days of practice this week with the injury, but he was a limited participant today in practice, giving him the questionable status for Monday night on the Falcons official injury report.
“He looked explosive going in and out of his breaks,” Atlanta Falcons coach Dan Quinn said. “He didn’t get a lot of turns, but we kind of tried to feature him on the plays that he needed to see. …I’m encouraged.”
So far this season, Jones has caught 9 passes from Matt Ryan for 172 yards and two touchdowns.
