This is the second time Weatherspoon has suffered a torn Achilles tendon. He tore his left one in 2014 during off-season practice.
Weatherspoon posted the following image on Instagram in-which he said: “I’m certain that I’ll be just fine in due time. Thanks for your well wishes and prayers.”

The 28-year-old Weatherspoon, who will turn 29 this month, spent the entire 2015 season as a member of the Arizona Cardinals. In Arizona, he only played 159 snaps on defense, leading him to grow un-happy there. He returned to the Falcons this off-season to try to gain some playing time back on a one-year deal.
With Weatherspoon suffering this significant injury, it’s very likely that the Falcons will see the market for him before making a decision on his future with the team. Weatherspoon will finish the year with 27 total tackles.
For his NFL career, Weatherspoon has 238 total tackles, 8 sacks, one forced fumble, and two interceptions in six seasons.
