There were reports that the Sacramento Kings could be looking to move on from DeMarcus Cousins, as the team already reportedly placed him on the trade block prior to the NBA’s Trading Deadline back in mid-February. Ever since then rumors have been flying about numerous teams trying to land one of the NBA’s best centers, and there are five teams that have the best chance too. The Kings are looking for draft picks in-exchange for Cousins if they do decide to trade him, but the question is, which teams can offer picks that they could have no problem with losing basically? Let’s analyze some of the teams with the best chance to land Boogie. (Cousins’ nickname).

Boston Celtics

The Boston Celtics have draft picks for days. With the amount of draft picks the Boston Celtics have until the year 2019 and beyond, the Celtics could easily sacrifice most of those picks that aren’t even theirs. The team has picks from the Paul Pierce and Kevin Garnett trade with the Nets, the Rajon Rondo trade with the Dallas Mavericks, and the Austin Rivers trade with the Los Angeles Clippers. If the Celtics want a star big man but don’t think there’s any they could get in the draft or free agency like DeMarcus Cousins, I would expect them to try to land Cousins in a trade with those picks.

Phoenix Suns

The Suns have some flexibility with their draft picks now. After trading Goran Dragic to the Miami Heat in February, the Suns were able to get Danny Granger and two future first round picks from the Heat, which the Suns will be able to use the 1st one in 2017, 2018, or 2019 while the other one will be able to be used in 2021. With the Suns general manger Ryan McDonough want a star on the Phoenix Suns, Cousins could give him the player that he has been looking for to fit the star role.

Los Angeles Lakers

Cue up Kobe with an elite center part three? Part two didn’t go so well with Dwight Howard in Los Angeles, but perhaps it could work out this time. The Lakers also has the ability to move around in the draft, which could be big in getting the franchise back to one of the elite teams in the NBA. If they could get Cousins without giving up their 2015 1st rounder, the Lakers could use their 1st round lottery pick on a point guard like Emmanuel Mudiay, and have a starting lineup of Emmanuel Mudiay, Kobe Bryant, Wesley Johnson (if they don’t add a small forward), Julius Randle, and DeMarcus Cousins. If they do everything right, maybe it gets the Lakers one more shot at a ring for Kobe Bryant.

New York Knicks

Knicks president Phil Jackson already knows who is going to be in the 2015 NBA Draft if the New York Knicks get the 1st pick, but as we’ve heard Jackson hasn’t ruled out trading the Knicks 2015 lottery pick yet. If the Knicks think the opportunity to get Cousins is strong for them and Phil Jackson would like a combo of Carmelo Anthony and DeMarcus Cousins, he will pull the trigger on the trade and get his man.

Denver Nuggets

Current Sacramento Kings head coach George Karl is a big fan of Denver Nuggets point guard Ty Lawson. Karl coached Lawson during his tenure with the Nuggets, and a swap of Cousins for Lawson and some other things like players and picks could be on the horizon. The swap would benefit both teams as the Nuggets would have their first true star since Carmelo Anthony in Denver, while George Karl gets his point guard and is able to move a Darren Collison or others.

lakers would have to give up the pick or randle, but i think its worth it, cousins would attract other free agents, and after kobe retires he would leave us 30 mill to spend on a max like westbrook (perfect scenario) and good role players…westbrook and cousins would be the closest thing to kobe and shaq, sorround them with hustle players and shooters and thats at least one title
