Grizzlies Assign Wade Baldwin IV to D-League

The Memphis Grizzlies have assigned rookie point guard Wade Baldwin IV to the Iowa Energy of the NBA Development League, per an official announcement from the team on Sunday:

Memphis Grizzlies General Manager Chris Wallace today announced the team has assigned guard Wade Baldwin IV to the team’s NBA Development League affiliate, the Iowa Energy.

ESPN’s Tim MacMahon reported shortly after the Grizzlies transaction that Memphis wants to get Baldwin IV significant playing time, and the D-League is the best place for him to get it with Tony Allen back at this current moment.

In-addition to Allen’s return, Baldwin IV fell behind point guard Andrew Harrison in Grizzlies head coach David Fizdale’s rotation, as Harrison is now serving as the primary back-up to Mike Conley.

The 20-year-old Baldwin IV is averaging 3.1 points, 2.4 assists, and 1.8 assists per game this season.
