Hassan Whiteside is Averaging More Blocks Per Game Than 7 NBA Teams

Hassan Whiteside? More like Hassan BLOCKside.

The Miami Heat center has swatted away 173 shots in 59 games in his Miami Heat career, and he is on pace to do some historically great things this year.

Whiteside is currently averaging 4.5 blocks per game through 11 games this year, and has yet to have less than 2 blocks in a game. His 50 blocks on the year put him ahead of Thunder big man Serge Ibaka, who only has 32 despite playing 87 more minutes than Whiteside.

The 4.5 blocks per game average has him on pace for 373 blocks, per 82 games. The 373 blocks would give him the 5th best blocking season ever behind Mark Eaton 456, Manute Bol 397, Elmore Smith 393, and Hakeem Olajuwon 376. The last player to have a 300 block season was Theo Ratliff.

Whiteside currently has more blocks per game than seven NBA teams, the Pistons, Kings, Suns, Mavericks, Cavaliers, Raptors, and the Grizzlies.

Keep blocking, Whiteside.
