Heat G Goran Dragic (Calf) Expects to Play During Miami’s Road Trip

About eight days ago, we learned that Miami Heat point guard Goran Dragic would be out a week with a calf injury suffered in the Heat’s 111-103 loss to the Warriors on January 11th. The injury was revealed two days later, and now we sit here eight days later, with Dragic hopeful to return soon:

“Yeah, definitely,” Dragic told the Palm Beach Post when asked if he expected to be back for at least one of those matchups over the Heat’s road trip. “It could happen on this trip.”

After losing to the Bucks 91-79 on Tuesday in Miami, the Heat were right back out on the road Wednesday night, losing to the Wizards 106-87. The Heat will have the Raptors in Toronto on Friday, the Bulls in Chicago on Monday, the Nets in Brooklyn, and then the Bucks on Friday in Milwaukee to round out their road trip.

Dragic is listed as questionable for the Heat’s set with the Raptors on Tuesday, but I wouldn’t expect him to return this week. Look for him to make an attempt to play next week versus the Nets or Bulls. If Dragic still doesn’t suit up for either of those games, it’s likely that he’ll be ready to go versus the Bucks on the 29th.

The Heat are riddled with injuries right now. In addition to Dragic being out, Dwyane Wade, Luol Deng, Beno Udrih, Hassan Whiteside, Josh McRoberts, and Chris Andersen have all been missing from action at some point this road trip.

Dragic is averaging 12.3 points, 5 assists, and 3.3 rebounds per game in 37 games this season for the Heat.
