Tonight’s game between the Phoenix Suns and Miami Heat was very heated. Get it? Heated because the Heat? Well regardless or not, things were chippy throughout the game, mainly because Goran Dragic was playing his former team for the first time, but there was other things involved. The Biggest story line of the game was the fight between Hassan Whiteside and Alex Len, which result in both players being ejected. Whiteside defended his decision to tackle Len after the game.
Whiteside on Alex Len:
“It was the 4th or 5th time I dunked on him & I could tell he was frustrated.”
“You’re not going to come into Miami and just bully us.”
Whiteside has also noticed how teams have improved how they game plan towards him:
“I’m starting to realize a lot more teams are being physical with me, and I’m down for it. That’s what I lift weights for.”
Heat forward Michael Beasley also told Whiteside after the game what he thought about Len.
“Don’t play into it. He’s just mad because you dunked on his face a few times.”
Prior to the Whiteside-Len brawl, Goran Dragic was fouled pretty roughly by former teammate Markieff Morris, which resulted in Morris receiving a flagrant two, which means he was ejected for the rest of the game. Goran Dragic spoke what he thought about the foul:
“It was kind of painful. But at the same time, D-Wade came to me & said, ‘Please stand up.’
It’s a man’s game.”
Dragic also said he didn’t talk to any of his former teammates at all during or prior to the game. Dragic also scored 21 points in the game, including 10 points in the 4th quarter. He talked about how it felt to play against the Suns for the first time.
“It means a lot. You always want to play well against your old teammates.”
The Miami Heat players sure had some bold statements after the game.
