The Miami Heat formally introduced Goran Dragic and his brother Zoran at a press conference today in Miami. Goran and Zoran Dragic were acquired by the Miami Heat on Thursday about 20 minutes before the NBA trading deadline was over. Joined by Heat head coach Erik Spoelstra, the brothers were asked a series of questions.
Goran Dragic on staying with the Heat long term:
“I hope so. I’m going to stay here. This is a great organization.”
Goran on wanting to play for the Heat:
“They’ve won 3 rings. Everybody wants to play for a Championship team.”
Goran Dragic and what he hopes to bring to the team:
“I know I’m going to play with a lot of energy and hustle for every ball.”
Zoran Dragic, who is Goran Dragic’s brother said that the hardest part for him since joining the NBA, has been the pace the game has been played at, but he feels more comfortable now. The Heat limited the press conference to just questions about the Dragic brothers, and not Chris Bosh who is dealing with blood clots.
Zoran on coming to Miami:
“I’m excited to be here and I can’t wait [to play].”
Erik Spoelstra on Goran Dragic:
“We’ve liked Goran for a while and we’ve tried to get him before, with the door slammed in our face and we understand why.”
Erik Spoelstra on the Heat offense with the Dragic brothers:
“Our very basic offensive package is very simplified right now. These guys are high IQ enough, they’ll be able to pick it up.”
Spoelstra on today’s press conference:
“We’re very excited for this day. This is something we’ve been working on for a while.”
Both Goran and Zoran Dragic are expected to be available for the Heat tonight as they take on the New Orleans Pelicans tonight.
