Rumors have been swirling about Mario Chalmers’ future with the Miami Heat ever since the all-star break of the 2014-2015 season.
100 thousand trade rumors later, we’re finally here to tell you that a deal actually went down between the Heat and Grizzlies centered around the now former Heat guard.
The deal also sent forward James Ennis to Memphis along with big man Jarnell Stokes being sent to the Heat. The move will save the Heat a total of $6 million in luxury tax payments. The Heat kept looking to clear cap space all of 2015, mostly in the Summer.
Chalmers is in the final year of a contract he signed back with the Heat in the Summer of 2014. He was the Heat’s starting point guard for a good portion of his career with the team, and was just recently replaced by Goran Dragic as the team’s guard.
As for the Heat at the back-up point guard spot now, Beno Udrih will likely share minutes with combo guard Tyler Johnson, a spark plug off the Heat’s bench.
