Indians’ Danny Salazar (Shoulder) to Miss 3-4 Weeks

Cleveland Indians right hander Danny Salazar will miss the next 3-4 weeks with a mild strain in his elbow, per the team.

The good news for the Indians is that Salazar’s UCL remained intact, meaning that he won’t have to undergo Tommy John surgery like he did while making his way through the Indians minor league system.

Salazar’s injury likely means his regular season could very well be over, leaving his availability for the American League Division Series in question. The Indians currently lead the American League Central by seven games, so it’s likely Corey Kluber and Carlos Carrasco will be the team’s one-two punch for the series.

The 26-year-old Salazar is 11-6 on the year with a 3.87 earned run average and 161 strikeouts over 137.1 innings.
