Jaguars Dish Out Four-Year Extension to WR Marqise Lee

After letting Allen Robinson walk out the door, it became increasingly important for the Jacksonville Jaguars to re-sig free agent wide receiver Marqise Lee. They did just that, per ESPN’s Adam Schefter:

In-addition to Lee’s extension, the Jaguars agreed in principle to a one-year contract with former Indianapolis Colts free agent wide receiver Donte Moncrief. Lee being back, and the addition of Moncrief, will add to a receiving core that features Dede Westbrook, Allen Hurns, and Keelan Cole. So, even without a true standout number one receiver like Robinson present, the Jaguars still have a lot of depth available in the wide receiving room.

Jacksonville will likely make Lee’s extension official at some point this workweek, with tomorrow being the first day they can do so, as it marks the start of the NFL’s new league year. Since Lee was a re-signing versus a new acquisition, it should be easier for Jacksonville to get all their paperwork filed as soon as possible.

After catching 63 passes in 2016, Lee caught 56 in 2017 to lead the team, along with 702 receiving yards and 3 touchdowns. His 2017 season numbers brought his career totals to 171 catches, 2,116 yards, and 8 touchdowns.

Prior to re-signing with the Jaguars, Lee drew interest from the Chicago Bears, Cleveland Browns, and a couple of other NFL teams. He was ranked inside the top 20 on The Game Day Report’s official list of the top 50 NFL free agents at number 19.
