Jeff Fisher: Goal is for Jared Goff to Start Week 1

There were plenty of storylines during the first round of the 2016 NFL Draft last night, and one of them was the Los Angeles Rams being back in Los Angeles.

We all knew the Rams were either going to take Jared Goff or Carson Wentz after trading up to the number one pick, and they decided that Goff was the man for the job.

According to Rams head coach Jeff Fisher, the ‘goal’ is also for Goff to be the team’s week one starter when they play the San Francisco 49ers on Monday Night Football:

“He may start on Monday night,” Fisher said. “That’s the goal. We understand the environment, believe me. He does. We’ve had lengthy conversations. If I had concerns about whether Jared could handle this, I wouldn’t be talking about Jared right now. He can handle it.”

Goff threw 43 touchdowns while throwing for 4,719 yards last season in his final year at the University of California. The 21-year-old GOff will attempt to become the first quarterback picked number one overall since David Carr in 2002 to win his NFL debut.
