New York Knicks fans were angry when the team decided not to sign guard Jimmer Fredette to a ten-day contract after the guard appeared in two games for the Knicks averaging 3.5 points per game in 2.5 minutes per game.

Most fans thought Fredette didn’t get a fair chance with the team. 2.5 minutes per game isn’t fair to anyone, because it gives you inflated averages when you have a nice scoring night for the amount of time you played.

Per 36 minutes a game with the Knicks, Fredette is averaging 50.4 points per game. Per 100 possessions it’s an eye-popping 71.9 points. He would still not be averaging this in regular playing time, but he should’ve at least received a fair chance on a bad team in the Knicks that only has Carmelo Anthony and Kristaps Porzingis to show for.

The good thing for Fredette is that he is returned to the Knicks Development League team the Westchester  Knicks on Sunday. He scored 12 points in Westchester’s blowout loss to Maine. He is averaging 21.8 points, 4.6 rebounds, and 4.8 assists per game for Westchester.

By NBA D-League rules, any NBA team can sign Fredette at any time they want as long as he is in the Development League. Fredette has spent most of the year with the Westchester Knicks. He was waived by the Spurs in training camp and waived by the Pelicans after a small stint with the team.

In the NBA, Fredette has the career averages of 6 points per game and 1.4 assists per game.
