Joel Embiid was rated by many as the best player in the 2014 NBA Draft by many, ahead of Andrew Wiggins and Jabari Parker. The 76ers were able to take him behind Wiggins and Parker during the draft, and the reason why Embiid slipped is the reason he is not on the court today in 2015 going onto the year 2016.
Embiid dealt with back problems throughout his time with Kansas, and foot injuries started to take over during his last year there, which caused Embiid to miss all of the 2014-2015 season. Now, he needs surgery om that same foot again, and it will happen this coming Tuesday. The surgery is also expected to sideline him for the entire 2015-2016 season.
Embiid averaged 11.2 points, 8.1 rebounds, and 2.4 blocks per game at Kansas during the 2013-2014 season.
