Jose Reyes (Rib) Placed on Disabled List

Blue Jays shortstop Jose Reyes will once again be headed to the disabled list as the team announced that Reyes would be headed to the 15-day disabled list due to a cracked rib. Reyes tried playing with the small crack for quite some time and even rested with the rib injury, but the Blue Jays decided to give him an extended time off.

Reyes had three hits in his last six games which gave him a weak batting average of .130 with zero extra base hits. The Blue Jays have called up Jonathan Diaz from Triple-A Buffalo to take Reyes’ place on the roster. Diaz is expected to split time at shortstop Ryan Goins. Goins started in place for Reyes on Sunday.

Reyes is batting .250 this season with no home runs and seven runs driven in through 15 games this season.
