Chicago Cubs rookie third basemen and all of Cubs fans suffered a scare on Sunday after Kris Bryant slid head first into second base while getting tagged by Brewers shortstop Jean Segura on the head during the slide. Bryant ended up being okay, but it lead Bryant to think about how he slides. He will no longer slide head first into bases, as he told Jesse Rogers of ESPN Chicago.
“I only have one head. I only have one life so there’s nothing really to joke about.”
Bryant makes a good point here. Some concussions in baseball last a long time, and while in the National Football League, players step away from the game due to concussions.
“There’s more important things than being safe [at the base],” Bryant said.
Bryant is batting .246 on the season with 14 home runs and 61 runs batted in.
