Legendary WR Reggie Wayne Retires After 14 NFL Seasons

Reggie Wayne signed a one-year deal with the Patriots in August of 2015, but was asked to be released by the team in early September, and many started to speculate that Wayne may be done with his pro career.

That is indeed the case.

About a hour ago Wayne announced his retirement from the NFL, saying that ‘it’s just time.’

“It was fun,” Wayne said, “but it’s time. It’s just time. Whenever you can admit that you’re done, you know you’re done.”

Wayne spent his entire 14-year career with the Colts, making the Pro Bowl six times. His career also featured one All-Pro selection, and a Super Bowl title.

Wayne retires with 1,070 career catches, 14,345 receiving yards, and 82 career receiving touchdowns. He posted a total of four 100-catch seasons.
