Marlins Acquire Dee Gordon & Dan Daren From the Dodgers

The Miami Marlins added speed and veteran presence in their recent trade with the Los Angeles Dodgers. The Miami Marlins have acquired 2nd baseman Dee Gordon and pitcher Dan Haren from the Dodgers in-exchange for pitching prospect Andrew Haney, 2nd baseman Enrique Hernandez, right handed reliever Chris Hatcher, and catching prospect Austin Barnes.

Dee Gordon is coming off a great year leading the Majors in stolen bases (64) and triples (12) making his first MLB all-star team in just his 4th year in the league. He also hit .289 with 24 doubles 2 home runs and 34 runs batted in. They don’t call him flash for just no reason.

Dan Haren previously told the Dodgers he was going to retire if they traded him anywhere else other then the Angels. The Dodgers will pay the 10 million that Dan Haren is going to make this season. The Marlins were only going to except this deal if the Dodgers agreed to pay him his contract.

The Dodgers have added top talent that they can keep on their bench or add to depth in their farm systems. Enrique Hernadez looks to be the best of the bunch as the Marlins don’t plan to hang on to Andrew Haney. Hatcher is an upcoming pitcher and Austin Barnes could pay off for them in the long run.

Gordon’s teammate AJ Ellis gave Dee Gordon a special goodbye via his Twitter page
