In game one of the National League Division Series, Mets manager Terry Collins decided to pencil in Ruben Tejada over Wilmer Flores at shortstop to be his shortstop for the NLDS. Tejada was Collins’ starter yet again tonight, but no one pictured his season ending.
On a ground ball hit to Daniel Murphy off the bat of Howie Kendrick, Tejada came over to cover second base. Chase Utley was also running towards second base, and then, this happened:
Here's the Chase Utley slide everyone will be talking about for awhile. Tejada broke his fibula on the play. http://t.co/HKCXXxrTSp

It looked painful, and that’s unfortunately what the result is.
Ruben Tejada left tonight's game with a fractured right fibula. #Mets

Tejada batted .261 with 3 home runs and 28 runs batted in. We wish the best for him, and speedy recovery.
