Mike Brey Coached Notre Dame to Win After Passing of His Mom

Some things are bigger than sports, and today was the case for Notre Dame head coach Mike Brey. Brey coached his Fighting Irish to a 67-64 overtime win over #11 Butler, but someone special in his life would not even know about it afterwards. In Brey’s press conference after the game, he revealed that his mom died early Saturday morning due to a heart attack at the age of 84.

Brey said that during the game, especially the ending, he could almost picture her there.

“I feel she was definitely with us down the stretch.”

We wish the best for Brey and his family during this difficult time for them.
