The biggest name for starting pitchers left is now off the market. The Washington Nationals have just made a huge move to impact their starting rotation as they have signed Max Scherzer to a 7-year deal. Terms of the deal have not been announced, but the contract is expected to be worth about 175-200 million dollars.

Max Scherzer spent the 5 years with the Detroit Tigers and went 18-5 last year with a 3.15 earned run average with 252 strikeouts in 220.1 innings of work. The Nationals pitching staff now includes, Stephen Strasburg, Jordan Zimmerman, Doug Fister, Gio Gonzalez, and now Max Scherzer.
Prior to this signing, the Nationals had 12/1 chance to win the World Series, giving them the 4th highest chance to win it all and they had they had the second highest chance to win the National League pennant with a 4/1 odd only behind the Dodgers.
