Neil Walker’s Big Night Helps Pirates Clinch 3rd Straight Playoff Berth

The Pittsburgh Pirates will be playing for it all in October for the third straight year in 2015.

Pittsburgh clinched their playoff berth with a 13-7 win over the Colorado Rockies Wednesday night. Pirates second baseman Neil Walker was a big reason why, as he hit his 15th home run and drove in six of the Pirates 13 runs in the game. Starling Marte and Sean Rodriguez also had multi-rbi games, as Marte had 2 while Rodriguez had 3.

With the Pirates being 92-60 on the season now, they are assured at worst the National League Wild Card game, as they will finish with a better record than the Washington Nationals and San Francisco Giants. This is the third time in franchise history that the Pirates are going to the playoffs for the third straight year.

Since 2013, the Pirates have 274 wins, which is the second most in baseball, trailing only fellow National League Central rival Cardinals at 283.
