Berry II suffered the injury in the Tar Heels’ 95-50 blowout win over the Radford Highlanders during the 2nd half of the game. He is also questionable for North Carolina’s contest against the Tennese Volunteers on Sunday, per the same release:
University of North Carolina junior point guard Joel Berry II will not play against Davidson on Wednesday (Dec. 7) due to a sprained left ankle, an injury he suffered early in the second half of Sunday’s 95-50 win over Radford.
Berry is questionable to play in Sunday’s game (Dec. 11) against Tennessee. The Apopka, Fla., native is Carolina’s second-leading scorer at 14.8 points per game and leads the Tar Heels in assists, three-point field goals and free throw percentage. He was the MVP of the Maui Jim Maui Invitational.
Senior guard Nate Britt will likely be inserted into the starting lineup at point guard for the duration of Berry II’s injury. Freshman Seventh Woods will also see an increased role for the time being.
The 21-year-old Berry II is averaging 14.8 points, 3.8 rebounds, and 4.7 assists per game this season.
