Packers Activate WR Jordy Nelson From PUP List

Green Bay Packers wide receiver Jordy Nelson has been taken off Green Bay’s physically un-able to perform list after passing his physical yesterday, sources tell ESPN’s Field Yates.

Nelson missed the entire 2015 NFL season after suffering a torn ACL during a Packers pre-season game versus the Pittsburgh Steelers. Green Bay placed Nelson on the PUP list after knee tendinitis was discovered in his non-ACL tear knee prior to training camp.

It remains un-clear if Nelson will play in the Packers pre-season game tonight versus the Oakland Raiders in Green Bay, but it may be best for the Packers and head coach Mike McCarthy if they decide to let Nelson work his way in during practice before putting him into a live game.

Once Nelson gets his feet under him, the Packers hope that he will be able to return to form as the team’s top wide receiver, ahead of Randall Cobb, Davante Adams, Ty Mongtomery, and others.

Nelson, who was a Pro Bowler in 2014, is Packers quarterback Aaron Rodgers‘ favorite target. The 31-year-old Nelson hauled in 98 passes for 1,519 yards and 13 touchdowns for the Packers that year.
