After a few days of rumors surrounding Matt Kemp and the San Diego Padres, a trade has finally been made as the Padres have gotten their man. The Padres have acquired 2011 NL MVP runner up Matt Kemp from the Dodgers along with catcher Tim Federowicz in-exchange for catcher Yasmani Grandal pitcher Joe Wieland and pitcher Zach Effin.
The Dodgers will also send 32 million dollars to cover the 107 million left on Kemp’s contract which keeps him signed through 2019. Injuries have kept Kemp from being as effective in the years after his MVP caialber season in 2011 but he is looking for a fresh start in San Diego. Last year Kemp hit 25 home runs with 87 runs batted in with not even playing every game again.
