Arguably the best player in the National Hockey League has been diagnosed with the mumps. Today, the Pittsburgh Penguins confirmed that their captain Sidney Crobsy is the latest player in the NHL to be diagnosed with the mumps as he joins 11 other players who have been affected on the teams, the New Jersey Devils, New York Rangers, Minnesota Wild, and the Anaheim Ducks.

According to team doctor Dharmesh Vyas, Crobsy will be monitored daily and did not play against the Tampa Bay Lighting Monday night for precautionary reasons.

“It came as a bit of a surprise,”  Vyas said. “Every indication was that he was well protected against the disease.”

The Penguins did their best trying to prevent their players from getting the mumps by running test but to no cigar now.

Let’s hope Crosby is able to get back out on the ice as soon as possible.
