Phillies Release Former All-Star Grady Sizemore

The Philadelphia Philles announced earlier today that the team has officially cut former all-star Grady Sizemore from their team. The team designated him for assignment Saturday, and with no teams showing any interest in Sizemore the team just decided to cut him lose.

Sizemore was signed by the Philles last season after the Boston Red Sox cut him during the middle of the season. Sizemore was then signed to a one-year deal worth two million after hitting .253 with 3 home runs and 12 runs batted in. Sizemore was once a former star in Major League Baseball, but dealt with injuries that ruined his career before he could even hit his prime.

Sizemore is batting .245 with 0 home runs and 6 runs batted in this season.
