The Boston Red Sox have already made two major splashes in MLB free agency this off-season signing Hanley Ramirez and Pablo Sandoval, but they need to work on their pitching rotation as its considerably weak to this point so far. The Red Sox are reportedly trying to sign Max Scherzer, but that means Jon Lester would not sign with the Red Sox, which it seems like the Sox’s don’t want to happen.

Scott Lauber of the Boston Herald reports that the #RedSox will "more aggressively" pursue Max Scherzer if they lose out on Lester. #MLB

The Red Sox have competition all-around for both pitchers, but the heaviest is Jon Lester with the Cubs matching every offer the Sox give him and the Dodgers being sneaky. Max Scherzer to the Yankees rumors turned out to not be true so you have to wonder, will the Yankees get back in the running? Time will tell.
