Cincinnati Reds center fielder Billy Hamilton has entered Major League Baseball’s concussion protocol, reports C. Trent Rosecrans of the Cincinnati Enquirer:
Hamilton was not in the Reds lineup for Thursday’s series finale versus the St. Louis Cardinals for this very reason after sustaining the possible concussion on a slide into third base the day before.
If Hamilton does not pass the tests, you can expect the Reds to place Hamilton on the seven-day disabled list which is designed specifically for concussions.
So far in his fourth big league season, Hamilton is batting a career-high .269/.308/.394 with sixteen stole bases, good four 4th in MLB behind Jose Altuve, Starling Marte, and Jonathan Villar.
