Report: JPP’s Hand Injury Could Cost him 2015 Season

Giants defensive end Jason Pierre-Paul injured himself back on July 4th playing with fireworks, which sparked memes from everywhere and everything connected to the National Football League. There was hope in the Giants organization that he would still play this year, but there is now doubt he will.

Per Dan Graziano over at ESPN:

The New York Giants feel the damage to Jason Pierre-Paul’s right hand was worse than they were led to believe, sources said, and after the team got a chance to examine him on Monday, there are people in the organization who fear he might not be able to return to the field at all this year.

One source said that, in addition to the missing right index finger, fractured thumb and skin grafts — injuries suffered in a July 4 fireworks accident — a portion of one of the other fingers on Pierre-Paul’s right hand is missing.

Pierre-Paul will likely get his contract restructured with the Giants when before he plays again, as the two-time pro bowl racked up 77 combined tackles  and 12.5 sacks last year with the Giants.
