Report: Knicks ‘Getting Close’ to Engaging in Trade Talks Involving Melo

While ‘getting close’ really doesn’t mean much, it could be a nice idea for Phil Jackson to go with this for the right price.

According to Zach Lowe of Grantland, the New York Knicks are ‘getting closer’ to engaing in trade talks surrounding star forward Carmelo Anthony, who missed most of the 2014-2015 season with a knee injury, and signed a five-year $129 million deal prior to the 2014-2015 season.

Per Lowe’s article on Grantland:

The Kings and Knicks should take a look, even though neither has movable assets that would interest Phoenix — unless the Knicks are ready to engage in Carmelo Anthony trade talks. (They’re not there, yet. But they’re getting closer.)

I doubt this happens, because while many question his leadership, Melo is still a great player to build your offense around. That’s what the Knicks already did by acquiring Jerian Grant and Kristaps Porzingis in the off-season, along with Arron Afflalo.

For the right price, however, the Knicks could pull the trigger.
