For the 2nd straight year, Oklahoma City Thunder point guard Russell Westbrook is taking home the NBA’s All-Star Game MVP award after dropping 31 points on 12-23 shooting to go with eight rebounds, five assists, and five steals.

That performance helped the Western Conference run through the Eastern Conference 196-173. Those 196 points that the West scored set the record for the most scored by a single team in an all-star game.

Westbrook became just the second player in NBA All-Star Game history to win the award connective times, joining Bob Pettit, who of course won the award in 1958 and shared the award in 1959 with Elgin Baylor of course. Westbrook’s teammate Kevin Durant also had a solid night, scoring 23 points on 11-18 shooting, grabbing five rebounds, and dishing out seven assists.

Kobe Bryant shot 4-11 in his 18th and final all-star game, but he also grabbed six rebounds and seven assists in addition to the 10 points he scored. He of course received the proper sendoff after he checked out for the final time in an all-star game:

Stephen Curry, James Harden, and Anthony Davis were the other West players that scored more than 20 points as Curry had 26 while Harden had 23 and Davis had 24.

For the Eastern Conference, Pacers star Paul George led the way. He finished with a whopping 41 points, one short of Wilt Chamberlain for the most points in an all-star game. His nine three-pointers made are an all-star record, for the record. (no pun intended)

George joined Chamberlain, Michael Jordan, and Russell Westbrook as the only players to score 40-plus in the game. The only other East player to score over 20 points in the game was John Wall, who finished with 22.

LeBron James and Carmelo Anthony both finished with 13 points while Kyle Lowry had 14. Andre Drummond added in a nice 16 points and Dwyane Wade added in 8 points with some slick passing.

There was no need for defense in this one, as the West basically had the game wrapped up mid-way through the third after only leading by two at the half.
