Dion Waiters‘ irrational confidence paid off in a big way for the Miami Heat tonight.
Waiters’ 29 points lead the Heat to a 106-98 victory over the Cleveland Cavaliers on Monday night, with 24 of his 29 coming in the first half on 10-12 shooting from the field. While Waiters shot 2-12 in the second half, his last field goal of the game is all anyone will remember.
On what looked like a broken possession for the Heat, Waiters received a pass around the Cavaliers’ logo near half court from teammate Josh Richardson, and pulled-up for a three-point jump shot from around 32 feet out, and banked it in:
We have no official word that Waiters called bank, but knowing him, he more than likely called bank and game.
The 25-year-old Waiters has been a key component to the Heat’s unbelievable turnaround, as Miami is now 19-4 over their last 23 games after starting the season 11-30. Waiters and point guard Goran Dragic have been a very good mixture in the Heat’s backcourt.
Waiters is now averaging 15.7 points, 4.3 assists, and 3.3 rebounds per game this season.
