Is there anything that Minnesota Timberwolves power forward/center Karl-Anthony Towns can’t do?

Towns became the tallest player to ever win the NBA’s Skills Challenge at All-Star Weekend, beating out Celtics point guard Isaiah Thomas. This was the first time ever during this competition that a big man and a ‘little’ man, if you will went against each other, and it was amazing.

“I’m glad I was able to help the bigs come out with this trophy,” said Towns, who was the number one overall pick in the 2015 NBA draft back in June. “This is bigger than me. This is for all the bigs out there, with the game changing the way it is, to show that bigs can stand up with guards and skill-wise.”

Towns has the rare ability to handle the ball and shoot the three ball at his position, something that many people undervalue when they look at a player like him. He’s shooting the three at a 37% clip so far in his rookie season, and is being crazy efficient.

“I like proving people wrong, so I’m glad I was able to make a lot of people wrong,” Towns said. “I was able to make critics wrong, Vegas wrong, Ricky Rubio wrong. So I’m just so ecstatic right now.”

The contest made each participant weave through an obstacle course, throw a pass through a big target, dribble the entire length of the court for  layup, and then coming back down on the other end to make the three.

After Towns won, the other big participants in Anthony Davis, Draymond Green, and DeMarcus Cousins came to celebrate with him. C.J. McCollum, Jordan Clarkson, and Emmanuel Mudiay also took part in the event.
