UFC Fight Night 61: Mir vs Silva Preview

Antonio “Bigfoot” Silva takes on Frank Mir tonight in the main event of UFC Fight Night 61 on FOX Sports 1.

“Bigfoot” Silva (18-6, 1 NC) most recently lost to Andrei Arlovski via KO in the first round back in September. Prior to this loss, Silva fought Mark Hunt to a majority draw which was later overturned to a no contest due to elevated testosterone levels and also lost to Cain Velasquez via knockout. Silva will be looking to get back on track against an also struggling Frank Mir.

Mir (16-9) has lost 4 in a row and his last fight was a year ago, losing to Alistair Overeem by unanimous decision at UFC 169. If Mir were to drop a fifth straight against Bigfoot he will be in serious danger of being dropped from the UFC.

Mir, the former heavyweight champion, is expected to take the fight to the ground where he will seek to submit Silva. Mir has won 9 of 16 wins via submission so it is safe to say Bigfoot will want to keep the fight standing and look for a striking war.

I predict Bigfoot will be able to keep the fight standing for the most part and will win the fight via TKO in round 2.
