Another Major League Baseball is on the horizon! We have seen some of the most underrated teams last year like the Kansas City Royals and some of the overrated teams in the Atlanta Braves. Let’s get into this year’s under and overrated teams.
Underrated teams:
Miami Marlins:
The Marlins are coming off of a 77-85 season They also got better in the offseason (acquired Mat Latos and Dee Gordon) They will also have a healthy Jose Fernandez who only appeared in 8 games last year, when healthy he is arguably the best young pitcher in the MLB. A lot of people are sleeping on the Marlins this year but I wouldn’t be shocked if they made the playoffs this year.
Texas Rangers:
The Rangers are coming off of a 67-95 season, they had the worst record in the AL last year. The reason they had such an awful season was because of injuries. They set a record for the most active players on a 25-man roster in a single season. But people forget that coming into the season last year, they were viewed as world series contenders. If this team can stay healthy I think they could be a potential playoff team
Overrated teams:
Washington Nationals
Don’t get me wrong, this is a very talented team. But I think expectations might be too high for this team. Over the past few years, they have completely struggled in the playoffs, they haven’t even won a playoff series with Bryce Harper. I wouldn’t be so quick to call this team the clear cut world series favorites.
Kansas City Royals
The Royals are the defending American League champions, but I highly doubt they can repeat the success they had. They lost a lot of key pieces in the offseason such as: Nori Aoki, Billy Butler and most importantly James Shields. The Royals will have higher expectations than usual and I doubt they will live up to them.
