We all suspected that the Warriors would match any offer restricted free agent Draymond Green, and now we know they will for sure as Warriors general manager Bob Myers told the San Jose Mercury News that Warriors fans have no need to worry if Green will be back next season.
Green enjoyed a breakout season becoming the Warriors starting power forward averaging 11.7 points and 8.2 rebounds per game in 79 regular season games. Green also established himself as an elite defender in the NBA, finishing second in defensive player of the year voting.
“Tell the Warrior fans they shouldn’t worry,” Myers said Tuesday as the team held its shootaround session in preparation for Game 6 at the Quicken Loans Arena….
Asked if he could comment on whether the franchise is prepared to go to any lengths to keep Green, Myers said, “I can’t comment, per league rules, on that specific question. The only thing I can say is we really like our core. Obviously, they’ve achieved a great amount of success so far this season. Our hope is to keep them together.”
You can’t blame the Warriors at all for wanting to keep the core of players together that won them 67 games. They are also one win away for the NBA Title.
