Wesley Matthews will miss the rest of the season according to Yahoo Sports’ Adrian Wojnarowski with a torn left Achilles. Matthews suffered the injury on a non-contact play during Thursday night’s Dallas Mavericks Portland Trail Blazers game. Matthews started to move towards the basket, then just fell down like he collapsed.
Matthews was averaging 16.1 points, 2.3 assists, and 3.7 rebounds per game in 59 games this season with the Blazers. This was a contract year for Matthews. Arron Affalo is expected to take Matthews’ spot in the Blazers lineup. Affalo was acquired by the team a couple of weeks ago at the NBA’s trading deadline.
