The two main candiates we here about for the NBA’s MVP award are Stephen Curry and James Harden. Anthony Davis and LeBron James have also been swirled around as potential candidates. But who’s the true MVP right now of the National Basketball Association? We make the case for the 4 players above.
The Rockets were expected to be good, not this good. The reason the Rockets are playing this good is because of James Harden. Dwight Howard has struggled being on the court this year, which is making Harden carry most of the load for the Houston Rockets. Harden is also an improved defender, by a HUGE margin.
James Harden also leads the NBA in, points per game, field goals made, free throws made, fast break points, go ahead field goals, points off turnovers, and he is also 3rd in steals. James Harden also has 21 games with 30 ore more points this season. Harden’s Rockets sit at the 3rd seed in the Western Conference at 33-14, 4 1/2 games behind the Warriors.
Stephen Curry has been Chef Curry with the shot this year. He currently has the Warriors as the best team in the West with 36-8 record. He is averaging 23 points, 8.2 assists, and 4.8 rebounds. For a point guard, those are some pretty good numbers. Curry’s team has the best record out of the 4 major candidates here, but we will see at the end of the year if record help decides the NBA MVP again.
Anthony Davis has been a total monster this NBA season. He lead the Pelicans to their biggest win of the season over the red hot Atlanta Hawks we were going for 20 straight wins in a row. Davis is currently averaging 24.6 points, 10.5 rebounds, and 2.8 blocks per game. If Davis can somehow lead the New Orleans Pelicans into the NBA playoffs, it is almost certain he wins MVP.
LeBron has the Cavaliers rolling right now. Winners of 11 straight, and its almost impossible not to list him as a potential MVP winner. He’s having a great year like usual, and if Cleveland gets a high seed in the Eastern Conference, LeBron James could steal the MVP away from a Western Conference player.
My pick for MVP front runner: James Harden
Right now, James Harden has the Rockets in a great place without one of the NBA’s best centers for extended period of times this season. Sure, Curry, Davis, and LeBron may all same more attractive to you because you don’t consider James Harden an elite defender, but none the less, Harden is my pick.
1: James Harden
2: Stephen Curry
3: LeBron James
4: Anthony Davis
