The Washington Wizards suffered their 13th loss of the 2016-2017 season on Tuesday night by falling to the Orlando Magic 124-116, but that didn’t stop Wizards point guard John Wall from giving the maximum effort.

Wall poured in a career-high 52 points in the loss while shooting 18-for-31 from the field, 5-for-8 from the three-point land, and 11-for-14 at the free throw.

Despite the impressive effort from Wall, the Magic scored 124 total points to create a new season-high for the Magic’s 29th-ranked offense. That left Wall very unhappy with the Wizards’ effort:

“Not even defensive effort, just playing hard,” he said, according to Chase Hughes of CSN.

“Our job is to wake up and just play hard. Before you made it to the NBA or got a college scholarship, you played hard every day to get to where you wanted to. To still be talking about playing hard, that’s something that you should be able to do after just waking up. Everybody has a job and they have to go work hard.

“Our job is to come here and play hard and compete. That’s the easiest thing that you should do without any contracts or any money, just come in and play basketball.”

The 26-year-old Wall, a three-time NBA all-star, is now averaging 24.1 points, 4.2 rebounds, and 9.8 assists per game this season.
