What a busy day for the New York Yankees. According to baseball insider John Heyman of CBS Sports, the New York Yankees have found their new shortstop. The Yankees acquired shortstop Didi Gregorious from the Arizona Diamondbacks as part of a 3 team trade with the Tigers, and D-Backs.
Gregorious, 24 hit .226 with 6 home runs, 27 rbis, 9 doubles, and 5 triples in 80 games with the Diamondbacks in 2014. Gregorious will have some big shoes to fill as he is stepping in for recently retired Derek Jeter. Who as we all know was very good. The Yankees have landed a potential future star in major league baseball.
The Tigers have acquired Shane Green from the Yankees in this deal. Greene posted a 2.14 earned run average with a 81-29 strikeout- walk ratio last season. He struggled throughout his call up to the majors with a 1-4 record and 8.12 ERA, but that should be no big deal. The Diamondbacks are receiving pitcher Robbie Ray and infield prospect Domingo Leyba.
