Zack Greinke Scratched From Start vs. Mets, Placed on Paternity List

Los Angeles Dodgers starting pitcher Zack Greinke has been one of baseball’s best pitchers this year, and he’s been really hot over the past 42 1/3 innings, not allowing one earned run. He was scheduled to pitch today versus the New York Mets. The Mets rank 29th in total offense in baseball, so it would seem very likely that Greinke would continue his streak.

That is unable to happen now, as the Dodgers have placed Greinke on the paternity list due to his wife having a baby.

Greinke will now pitch on Tuesday versus the Oakland Athletics, the 6th ranked offense in all of baseball as he continues to chase Orel Hershiser’s scoreless inning streak of 59 innings. Hershiser also witness the birth of a child during his streak.
