After months of speculation, we finally have an answer. The NBA’s all-time leader in three-pointers made, Ray Allen, won’t play in the NBA this season. Several teams were rumored to be interested in Allen, including the Cleveland Cavaliers and Los Angeles Clippers. LeBron James passed Allen for 21st all-time on the NBA’s scoring list last night versus the Celtics.

“Over the past several months, I have taken a lot of time to deliberate what is best for me,” said Allen. “I’ve ultimately decided that I will not play this NBA season. I’m going to take the remainder of this season, as well as the upcoming off-season, to reassess my situation, spend time with my family and determine if I will play in the 2015-16 season.”

Besides the Cavaliers and Clippers, the Miami Heat, Washington Wizards, Atlanta Hawks, San Antonio Spurs were all interested in Ray Allen.

“Ray has received enormous interest from a number of NBA teams throughout this season,” his agent, Jim Tanner said . “We will communicate with interested teams as Ray makes a decision for the 2015-16 season.”

Allen most recently played for the Miami Heat, where he won his second NBA title and of course hit a game winning three-pointer to tie Game 6 of the 2013 NBA Finals.
