The New York Mets are in need of middle infield help and there could a vital option coming from the Milwaukee Brewers according to ESPN’s Adam Rubin and Fox Sports’ Ken Rosenthal. The Mets are in the market for Oakland Athletics utility man Ben Zobrist, but the market is strong as the Nationals along with other teams have been linked to Zobrist rumors. That is leading the Mets to keep a watchful eye on Brewers shortstop Jean Segura, and Brewers third baseman Aramis Ramirez.

The Mets need help at third base, which has been a theme for the last few seasons. David Wright’s health is in major question now, so that could be a reason why the Mets are in the market for a veteran third baseman like Ramirez. Segura could a Mets target if the team wants speed and a glove at shortstop that is becoming a better hitter. Flores has hit eight home runs this year, but has a .249 batting average. His 10 errors could also be a reason why the Mets would want a defensive guy like Segura.

It makes sense for the Brewers to dump off Aramis Ramirez as he announced this season would be his last. Segura could be moved for guys that are coming up in the Brewers system, like Jake Gatewood and Gilbert Lara. For a team that needs to start the rebuilding process, it wouldn’t be the worst idea for the Brewers to clean house and build around one guy.
